Corona couple celebrate 65th anniversary – Press Enterprise

Arthur and Virginia Brookshier, longtime residents of Corona, celebrated their 65th anniversary Aug. 16 with a family dinner at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant in Buena Park.

They met while Virginia was a student at Riverside City College, working toward her registered nursing degree. Arthur’s sister Sharon introduced them to each other, and they had their first date at a Valentine’s Day dinner at Tyler Street Baptist Church in Riverside, according to an email from their daughter Elaine Nunn.

They were married Aug. 16, 1958, at the church where they had their first date.

Their children are son Daniel Brookshier and wife Leticia of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughter Kathy Jimenez and husband Rafael of Indian Hills; daughter Elaine Nunn and husband Dale of Norco; and son Luke Brookshier of Valencia.

They have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arthur, a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked for Jordan Tile from 1956 to 1958, then worked at the Owens-Illinois glass plant for more than 40 years. The plant was originally in Corona, where the Shops at Dos Lagos shopping center is now, and later moved to Mission Viejo.

Virginia received her registered nursing degree in 1959 and then worked at several hospitals, including Parkview Community Hospital and Circle City Hospital.

They both attend Main Street Church of Corona.
