The CIF State office released the matchups for its 2023 football championships Sunday afternoon.
Three Inland teams qualified for this year’s state playoffs after winning CIF Southern Section championships this past weekend.
Orange Vista (10-3) will square off against La Serna (10-3) in the Division 2-AA regional championship game at California High School in Whittier on Friday night. Orange Vista won the Southern Section’s Division 5 championship, while La Serna brought home the Southern Section’s Division 4 title.
Jurupa Hills (8-6) will host Madera Torres (11-3) in the Division 4-AA regional championship game Friday evening. Jurupa Hills claimed the Southern Section’s Division 8 championship, while Torres is the Central Section’s Division IV champion.
Ramona (9-5) will make the trip to Torrance (10-4) for the Division 5-AA regional championship game Friday night. Ramona captured the Southern Section’s Division 11 championship, while Torrance won the Southern Section’s Division 10 title.
All three Inland teams will be making their first appearance in the CIF State playoffs, which were resurrected in 2006.
Regional winners advance to state championship games that will be played Dec. 8-9. This year’s state championship games will be held at three sites: Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Pasadena City College and El Camino College in Torrance.
